Abdominal Flaps
Stacked Flaps
Thoughtfully combining tissue to achieve your ideal volume naturally.

A Fully Customized Solution
Sometimes, a single side of your lower abdomen may not provide quite enough natural tissue to comfortably achieve the breast volume you desire for a single breast reconstruction. The Stacked DIEP flap offers a beautifully customized solution by gently utilizing tissue from both halves of your lower abdomen. By harmoniously bringing this tissue together, we can meticulously craft a soft, full, and authentic-feeling breast, ensuring your reconstruction perfectly matches your unique vision without ever needing to rely on an implant.
Procedure
During this highly specialized microsurgical procedure, our surgeons carefully transfer skin, fat, and blood vessels from both sides of your lower abdomen to reconstruct a single breast. Using advanced techniques, she delicately connects the blood vessels of each tissue segment to the blood supply in your chest so the tissue can thrive. The two flaps are then artfully shaped and layered—or "stacked"—together to create a single, beautifully contoured breast mound. Importantly, just like a traditional DIEP flap, your underlying abdominal core muscles are completely preserved and protected throughout the process.
Benefits
Choosing a Stacked DIEP flap allows women who desire a fuller shape, or who are naturally slender, to still enjoy the lifelong benefits of natural-tissue reconstruction. Because your results are created entirely from your own living tissue, your reconstructed breast will look, move, and feel beautifully authentic, naturally changing with your body over time. This approach not only provides profound peace of mind by avoiding implants altogether, but it also leaves you with a smoother, flatter abdominal contour very similar to a tummy tuck, helping you feel deeply confident and completely at home in your body.
